Ceramic Care Guide
Good ceramics can live on the bar for years if they are treated with a little care. Use this guide for stoneware, porcelain, and handmade espresso cups unless a product page gives more specific instructions.
Daily cleaning
Hand washing is the safest default. Use warm water, mild dish soap, and a soft sponge. Avoid abrasive pads that can dull glaze or mark exposed clay.
Dishwasher use
If a product page does not clearly say dishwasher safe, hand wash it. Handmade pieces, reactive glazes, and exposed clay surfaces age better with gentler cleaning.
Microwave use
Do not microwave ceramics with metallic details, luster, or unknown glaze behavior. When in doubt, do not microwave.
Thermal shock
Avoid sudden temperature swings. Do not move a cold cup directly into boiling water or onto a hot surface. Pre-warm cups gradually when possible.
Espresso stains
Coffee oils can build up over time. For stains, soak with warm water and mild soap, then clean with a soft sponge. Avoid harsh cleaners unless the maker specifically recommends them.
Storage
Stack only pieces designed to stack. For handmade cups, leave a little space or use a soft layer between pieces to avoid rim chips.
